Dr. Sarah Garrett

SarahFinWebWelcome to Fairhaven Integrative Health (FIH). My name is Dr. Sarah Garrett and I am a Washington state licensed Naturopathic physician. I hope that whether or not you have had great experiences with your healthcare thus far, that you believe in your body’s natural ability to be healthy and if not I hope to show you it’s potential.

I believe that my job as your doctor is to help you realize and maintain the dream of health. Optimal health is not just the absence of disease, but it is also the absence of limitations. Limitations come in many forms that may go unnoticed, but in essence, health is freedom.

Optimal health is not just the absence of disease, but it is also the absence of limitations.

I was first introduced to Naturopathic Medicine while completing my undergraduate degree at SFSU, so I could attend medical school to become an MD. At the same time I was working at a busy downtown clinic in San Francisco and became increasingly disillusioned at effectiveness of poly pharmacy on chronic illness. It was around this time that I was telling a friend about my concerns when she told me to look into Naturopathic Medicine. At first I was skeptical, but the more I learned the more I fell in love the medicine. It has a philosophy, that our bodies have an innate ability to heal itself and that as doctors our job is to remove the obstacles that prevent it from doing so. While I love the philosophy and the various therapeutics I’m trained to use, I highly value an integrative approach to addressing my patient’s health concerns. I believe that by utilizing all the perspectives medicine has to offer, we can create a plan to suit all my patient’s needs and beliefs.

While I am trained to be a primary care provider, I have received additional training in areas of personal interest. My additional training thus far is in women’s health, female hormone replacement and balancing, gastrointestinal health, biotherapeutic drainage, detoxification, environmental medicine, diabetes, HIV care, biofeedback, and hydrotherapy, to name a few. During my education I received more continuing education classes than most doctors’ take in ten years post-graduation. I have done this because I love to continually learn for the benefit of my patients. I believe that it is an honor to take such a critical role in my patient’s health and I am humbled by this experience. I love to be challenged and look forward to becoming an expert on your health.

I love to continually learn for the benefit of my patients.

I run and operate Fairhaven Integrative health with my husband, Dr. Joseph Garrett.  When I am not seeing patients or taking classes, I can be found outside hiking or kayaking in beautiful North West or at home cooking. Joe and I believe that healthy food should be delicious and varied, so we love to try new recipes or restaurants. If you have any leads on recipes, trails, or restaurants, please feel free to pass them on.

If you’re looking for a Naturopathic approach to female disorders (infertility, menopause, PMS, PCOS, etc.), autoimmune, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and/or diabetes; please make an appointment to see Doctor Sarah Garrett.
