Welcome to Fairhaven Integrative Health (FIH). My name is Dr. Joseph Garrett and I am a Washington state licensed Naturopathic physician. I grew up in the Midwest and for 10 years I worked in small health food shops, which allowed me to speak to many people who had decided to take health care into their own hands. I listened to their experiences with all types of medicine and it was around this time that I started hearing about Naturopathic Medicine. I started reading about this medicine and immediately I was inspired to become a Naturopathic doctor and to help those who could not find relief from their illness.
I believe in providing you with multiple treatment options to choose from, empowering you to take part in your own healing process.
As a Naturopathic physician, I’m trained to address primary care needs in people of all age groups experiencing chronic disease. I do however take a special interest in the use of herbal medicine and dietary prescriptions to resolve various health complaints. I find that most of my patients complain of gastrointestinal symptoms along with stress and anxiety. Eventually these problems result in deeper pathologies such as; hypertension, irritable bowel disease, female hormonal irregularities, cholesterol problems, etc. I believe in an integrative approach to healing, drawing on both conventional medicine and traditional Naturopathic therapies. I believe in providing you with multiple treatment options to choose from, empowering you to take part in your own healing process.
I run and operate Fairhaven Integrative Health with my wife Dr. Sarah Garrett. FIH is located in the beautiful Fairhaven district of Bellingham, WA. When I’m not seeing patients you may see me out hiking, kayaking, or just enjoying the shops of downtown Fairhaven. I also enjoy wood working and collecting old medical texts and instruments.
